focus

I think that most people, in business, are focusing on their results. That’s kind of a “no duh” statement. We, naturally, focus on the results of our actions. How else are we supposed to gauge how well we are doing?

I’m here to say that focusing on your results, in network marketing, is the worst ways to determine how you are doing, especially, if you are new to the business. If you focus on your results, more than likely, you will end up quitting the business. This explains why 75% of all network marketers quit the business in their first 90 days.

Think about what happens in those first 90 days. The new distributor is asked to make a list of everyone they know and associate with. Then they need to go through the list and contact all of them to see if they would be interested in joining the business. After they go through the list, they look at their results. What do they have to show for their trouble of talking to all of the friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers? Probably not much. Maybe they picked a customer or two. Maybe they found someone who wanted to make some extra money and recruited them. Mostly, they got rejected.

With very little to show from their efforts, most people give up and quit. That’s what focusing on your results will get you and your downline.

What else can we focus on?

I suggest that everyone focus on the process.

Whether we are trying to recruit someone or find customers for our businesses, there are processes that we follow. If we are looking for a new customer, we find out if the prospect has a need or desire for our products. If we are trying to recruit someone, we find out if they have a need or desire to make extra money.

focus on earning cash?

There are certain activities or steps that we move people through in order to recruit them or get them as a customer. Not only do we need to be doing these activities, we need to know how we are performing them. If your are not getting the results that you want, then there is a problem with the process.

The results are the results. There is no way to directly effect the results. We can’t force someone join our business. Even if we could make them join, how well do you think that they would do?

We can control and adjust the processes that we use to conduct our businesses. This is where we need to focus our attention.

The process of recruiting has many steps. You generate leads and talk to them to find out if they have an interest in your business. You talk to the prospects to get them to see a business plan. Then you talk to them after they see the “plan.” You answer any questions that they have and over come any objections that they have about joining. Next, you sign them up and teach them how to do the same things that you are doing.

Sounds easy, doesn’t it?

focus on the process

It’s simple, but it’s not easy.

Those are the steps that you take to recruit someone. At each step of the process, there is the opportunity to adjust what you are doing.

If you aren’t generating leads or not enough leads, you can change what you are doing. You can find a method that generates more leads. The rest of the steps that you take involve you talking to the prospects. If, at any step, you find that you are not getting the the results that you think that you should be getting, then you have the opportunity to change things that you are saying. Because, if you aren’t getting the results you want, then you are either talking to the wrong people or you are saying the wrong things to them.

Your results come from the success or failure of each step in your process.

If you aren’t getting the results you want, it’s not the results fault. It is the fault of one of the steps in your process. You need to focus on the process in order to adjust things to get the results that you want.

Once you have a process that produces the results you want, you only need to get enough people through the process to achieve your goals!
